Byron House

About Byron House

Byron House is a welcoming, trauma-informed children’s residential home designed for young people aged 5–17 who require medium to long-term therapeutic care. Based in the East Midlands, Byron House provides a safe and nurturing setting where children can begin their journey toward emotional recovery and a brighter future.

Creating Stability, Safety, and Belonging

Our team understands the impact of early trauma, disrupted attachments, and inconsistent care. That’s why Byron House places a strong focus on emotional wellbeing and therapeutic intervention from day one. Every child receives a personalised support plan co-designed with them and key professionals to ensure their voice remains central throughout their stay.

The home itself is designed to feel lived-in, warm, and secure. We pay attention to the details—from personalised bedrooms to familiar routines—so that young people feel safe, seen, and respected. Staff are trained in therapeutic approaches including trauma-informed care and attachment theory, helping children to regulate their emotions, build healthy relationships, and rediscover trust in adults.

Two Core Outcomes: Reunification or Foster Care

At Byron House, we support two primary long-term outcomes:

Return Home

When safe and appropriate, we work closely with families and local authorities to support reunification. This includes supervised contact, parenting support, and outreach to strengthen family bonds.

Foster Care

For those moving on to fostering, we help prepare children for new placements, providing emotional readiness and clear communication with foster carers and social workers.

Byron House provides thoughtfully planned placements, offering genuine care for children who benefit from our environment, helping them thrive in a group-living home and work towards positive outcomes.

We align our work with national guidelines on safeguarding and child development. For example, our approach reflects recommendations by the NSPCC for creating safe environments for vulnerable children. As part of the wider Calordomus Support network, Byron House benefits from shared training, best practice, and specialist oversight. We also work collaboratively with Local Authorities, IROs, schools, and therapeutic professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for each child.
